    Description

    Sterling Silver
    Raven Pentacle Pendant
This pendant depicts a Celtic-style raven combined with a pentacle or pentagram.  A small crescent moon sits above the raven's head.  Measuring approximately 1" wide and 1" tall (without the bale), the raven pendant is made of .925 Sterling Silver.  The pendant is single-sided.
    Symbolism:
A powerful totem in many traditions, ravens are associated with prophecy, magick, and fate.  In the Norse tradition, ravens are sacred to the god Odin,
who was known as the raven god.  Odin kept two ravens, Hugin and Munin (Thought and Memory) who acted as his spies.  Odin's battle maidens, the Valkyries, appeared as ravens when performing their task as choosers of the slain.
In Celtic mythology, the raven is sacred to Morrigan, the powerful goddess of battle and fertility, who also took the form of a raven.  In Native American belief, the raven is again associated with shapeshifting and powerful magick as well as new beginnings and the ability to find lost items.  Considered to be a protector of mankind, the raven is revered by shamans who converse with the birds to discover the will of the gods.  In traditional witchcraft the raven symbolizes healing and omens as well as the ability to change form.
The pentagram (also known as a pentacle) is an ancient symbol of harmony, health, and mystical powers.
The five points of the star represent the five elements: earth, air, fire, water, and spirit.  In its upright position, the pentagram represents spirit ruling over the world of matter.  Also known as the 'Endless Knot',
the pentagram's unbroken configuration represents infinity and perfection, empowering it with the capacity to bind evil and attract good fortune.  Because of this quality, the pentagram is often used as a protective amulet.  The crescent moon above the raven's head is another protective symbol, and the 'Horns of the Moon' have been used as a defense against the evil eye since ancient times.
Combining the protective powers of the pentagram and the crescent moon with the magick of the raven, this pendant would make a great personal talisman or amulet.
    Silver:
One of the 7 magical metals of the Ancients, silver is the
metal of the moon.  Like the moon, silver is linked to the element of water and the Divine Feminine.  With its reflective surface, silver acts as a mirror; and the metal is is associated with psychic powers and clairvoyance.  Silver is a protective metal and is often used to make protective amulets.
