Maroccan silver coins date from 1881-1882 (1299 in the Islamic calendar). Wonderful rare and almost complete piece (Two small coins are missing and 10 glasses beads). For a similar example, see p. 246 of “Africa Adorned”, by Angela Fischer. Berbers are the indigenous ethnic group of North Africa. They are continuously distributed from the Atlantic to the Siwa oasis in Egypt, and from the Mediterranean to the Niger River. The name Berber appeared for the first time after the end of the Roman Empire.
