    Description

    OIL VINEGAR CRUET ETCHED, CHANTILLY PATTERN, CAMBRIDGE CRYSTAL STERLING BASE LID
    This is a VERY FINE condition OIL & VINEGAR CRUET etched in the CHANTILLY pattern by CAMBRIDGE.  It has a STERLING SILVER (though weighted and reinforced) base by Sheffield Silver Co. (American, not English, active in Brooklyn, NY from 1919-1974 and later absorbed by Reed & Barton).   The stopper is glass but capped with STERLING SILVER, again by Sheffield.  Total height is about 8” high.
    It is in EXCELLENT condition with no chips, cracks, flakes, or other defects.  The stopper does have a couple of extremely small flea bites at both the top and bottom edge of the part that seals in the neck of the cruet (not the silver cap part).  The sterling silver base is remarkably free of twists, dents, and dings as is so common in these pieces.
