    NASA's MAVEN (Mars Atmosphere and Volatile Evolution) spacecraft began orbiting Mars on Sept. 22, 2014, and is still working. This is the Press Kit handed out to watchers of the launch on an Atlas V from Cape Canaveral Launch Complex 41. Press Kit includes a cloth patch, 2- pins and several mission decals. Also included is a special NASA booklet, "Mars as Art," 25 pages of amazing Mars landscapes that have an artist feel. MAVEN has discovered "layers" and "rifts" in the electrically charged part of the upper atmosphere (the ionosphere) of Mars. The phenomenon is very common at Earth and causes unpredictable disruptions to radio communications.
