This is an amazing antique Kapiski Kirdi cache sexe apron like skirt clamshell shaped triangular metal lion cloth or modesty panel which was traditionally worn by the woman of the tribe to cover the pubic region and was collected from Mandara Mountains of Northern Cameroon, Africa. This antique Kapiski Kirdi tribe Cache sex belt features rare hand forged iron slats which are wider at the top and become more narrow towards the tips and which are slightly concaved or rounded inward a bit. The hand forged iron slats are strung or wrapped around a iron rod almost strung like beads and then woven together at the bottom with a cotton cord usually colored red with ochre. The Cache sex hangs from a woven cord from a metal or cloth belt. This Kirdi metal clamshell cache sexe is in great condition for this piece's age and considering it was tribally worn & used. Very heavy rust patina, one side of the woven band has broken off and a little wear to the cotton cord woven bottom at the end tip of the long triangular iron pieces. This collectable African tribal adornment specimen measures 5.65 inches long by 6.50 inches wide measuring only the metal clamshell pendant. The fiber belt measuring from one end to the other end measures 12.40 inches long.
