Gateway Classic Cars of Scottsdale is proud to offer this attractive 1964 Buick Skylark Convertible for sale on consignment with our showroom in Phoenix, Arizona. Until 1964, the Skylark was actually a luxury trim model for other Buick automobiles such as the Roadmaster and the Special but it was now prepared to venture on its own in the Buick lineup. This '64 convertible was based on GM's A Body platform, shared with the Chevelle/Tempest/F85 in the GM lineup. This Buick literally looks like a beautiful day with a “Wedgewood Blue" paintjob and a Cream power-operated convertible roof. The chrome side moldings, wire wheels and stylish rear fascia make for some serious curb appeal. Pop the hood and you'll be impressed with what's on offer there too; Buick went with a 300 CID V8 with a cast iron block and aluminum heads for its base V8 choice in 1964 and this example has been upgraded with a 4bbl carburetor, aluminum intake manifold, MSD electronic ignition and dressed up with Offenhauser valve covers and aftermarket air cleaner. According to the seller of this vehicle, the transmission has been changed to a 4-speed automatic (TH-200-4R) with overdrive which should help this drop-top cruiser with mileage at highway speeds. The mid-60's interior is something to ooze over in a lot of cars from this era and this Buick gets it right on the money with Blue vinyl bench seating in the front and rear. The big steering wheel feels appropriate for this “boat" of a Buick and the gauge cluster is just one step down from what you'd expect on a Cadillac. An aftermarket stereo with AM/FM capability has been installed in the dash and some speakers added to the doors but otherwise this 1964 Buick looks mostly period correct inside. In celebration of its upgraded status to a member of the Buick lineup, the “Skylark" badge is seen proudly displayed on the glovebox. [ omitted ]. [ omitted ]. [ omitted ].
